There are different ways to add beads to tatting. When I posted my bracelets on Facebook this week I received many questions about how I had added the beads. On this page you'll find a tutorial on how I made my bracelets.
I used Durable Embroidery and crochet cotton. This is color number 1030. The thread size is 20. The beads I used are 4 mm.
Afkortingen:
dk = dubbele knoop
- = picot
--- = hele grote picot
To make this bracelet you'll need one shuttle and the ball thread. You don't cut the thread after you've wound your shuttle!
Abbreviations:
ds = double stitch
- = picot
--- = very large picot
2. Maak de eerste boog: 4 dk - 2 dk - 2 dk - 2 dk - 2 dk - 2 dk
3. Maak weer een ring: 6 dk --- 6 dk
---
1. Make a ring: 6 ds --- 6 ds. You'll make a very large picot. It has to be big enough to fit the bead and have some space to make a join.
2. Make the first chain: 4 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds2.
3. Make another ring: 6 ds --- 6 ds
---
4. Now you turn your work and start another chain. You'll make the first 2 ds. And here it comes...
5. Put a crochet hook through the bead you want to use.
6. Hook the crochet hook unto the large picot of the first ring you made.
9. Trek de werkdraad door de picot.
---
7. Slide the bead off the hook unto the picot.
8. Put your hook through the picot, right above the bead, and hook on your working thread.
9. Pull the working thread through the picot.
12. Trek de werkdraad strak.
---
10. en 11. Put your shuttle through the loop of the working thread.
12. Pull the working thread tight.
---
13. Continue the chain: 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds - 2 ds
14. Repeat step 3 trough 13 until your bracelet has the desired length. Note: You have to end with step 12! Cut the thread. Make a knot with the two ends. Weave the ends underneath your last stitches with a needle. Attach a little clasp to one end, and a short chain with a charm to the other, this will make your bracelet adjustable.
If anything is unclear, please let me know. Also, I would love to see your bracelets! Please share your link in the comments!
Enjoy your bracelet! =)
